Frequently Asked Questions

We’ll keep this page updated with questions as we get more of them.  If you have questions that aren’t answered here, head on over the forums!

Is the ‘Dwarves of Karak Dok’ story about the Dwemer?

Our story follows the tale of the Balmer, the “Stone Folk”.  They aren’t Dwemer but the two races are closely related.  We are aware that in the Elder Scrolls universe the Dwemer were not short and are in fact, elves.  By playing through DoKD you’ll learn the history of the Balmer and their relationship to the Dwemer race.

If the Balmer are not Dwemer, why are they called Dwarves?

This is a part of the story line so you’ll need to play to find out!

Does the mod bring back the Dwemer?

No.

Will the Balmer be a playable race?

As of right now, no. It is certainly something we want to do, but with the bandwidth we currently have we’ve decided to focus our efforts on an engaging story and quality game play. If there is enough interest in the future, we’ll consider it again.

Will there be voiced dialogue?

Yes, all characters are voiced by professional voice actors.

Where did the names of the characters come from?

All of the characters and places in the mod are named after guild members of the Mithril Warhammers. The attitudes and choices the characters make are all based on real people, well, at least real people role-playing Dwarves!

How many hours of gameplay will the mod add  to Skyrim?

We can’t disclose that currently — but we can say it will certainly be worth the download.

How will the “Chapters” work?

Dwarves of Karak Dok will be released in three chapters. Eventually when all three are complete you’ll be able to download and play through the mod as a single story. The three chapters are for the release schedule so that you can play through parts as we complete them instead of needing to wait a very long time for us complete all three.

Where will I be able to download the mod?

When it’s released it will be available via Nexus, Steam Workshop, and our website.

What if my character is an Elf?  Will the Dwarves be hostile?

Unless you’ve somehow managed to join the Thalmor, you’re character will be just fine. :)

Will there be original music in DoKD?

Yes.
